This game was made for the GMTK Game Jam 2021.

You are a dog, herding sheep, into tricky positions.

I watched the movie "Babe" (from the makers of "Mad Max") and wondered what it would be like if the titular pig were, in fact, a dog.

Controls

You play a dog

Move using Arrow Keys/ 'WASD'

'Z' / Shift Key  to sprint (while sprinting you don't scare the sheep)

Escape to pause the game

All of the code, and most of the art, was done by me, however:

The grass texture and victory toot were from OpenGameArt.com, where I have also posted all the assets I made for this project (lots of love to open source).

The excellent music was from the album 'Fairy' by Serge Quandrado, and is licensed under: CC BY-NC-ND. The source can be found here: https://freemusicarchive.org/music/serge-quadrado/fairy

A lot of my understanding of Godot came from an excellent tutorial by HeartBeast, and the coding for the sheep is based on a great boids tutorial by NAD LABS

If you are colour blind or otherwise struggle to make out the objective zones please let me know, if it turns out to be an issue I will edit it and reupload.

*note - there is a known bug where sheep can get caught in fences, you can restart the level by pausing with 'Escape' and clicking restart

I'll be honest.. the name and concept here is the most subtle yet incredibly meta joke that I've ever seen in a game title. Though you state it's a last minute idea and lackluster, I want to commend you for the incredible laugh this gave me. I feel like it's almost even too subtle for most people to understand so I'll spoil the joke. The name of this game is basically "Sheepherding" but with extra steps. The fact that the original concept of Babe is literally "Sheepherding but with a Pig" makes the implementation of this reverse-meta-joke incredibly clever and is my personal favorite game title out of every submission I've seen thus far. Bravo.

Also, while it didn't stop me from finishing the level, I did manage to get a cow stuck on the fence on what I believe is the fourth level.

Yeah that's a problem with the random spawning that I had no time to fix cause it wasn't game breaking. And I'm glad someone appreciated the title, I realised after I released it that "Babe" might not have the mass market appeal I believed it too.
